Superior holding capacity
A screw anchor won’t drag, and can hold high loads. Here in Coromandel, some of the mussel lines are holding 80 tonnes of mussels, which is held in place with just one screw anchor at either end of the line. Screw anchors as a mooring system are more environmentally friendly that other types of moorings, disturbing less than 1m2 of seabed and only during installation.
Maximise useable water space
Due to the superior holding power of screw anchors, anchor lines can run at a steeper ratio of 2:1, compared with the 3:1 ratio of concrete blocks. This allows farmers to maximise usable water space, within an allocated license.
Generally FMS Screw Anchors are quicker, cheaper and easier to install than concrete blocks and other anchors.
